Accountant
This company is seeking an applicant who is comfortable following established procedures and processes. You will be responsible for managing the finances for multiple commercial properties, handling tasks like budget creation, financial statement preparation, accounts payable/receivable, lease management, and tax compliance for industrial properties, office buildings and retail centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow to ensure financial health and provide strategic financial planning.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and general ledgers for properties. Monthly bank reconciliation of general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Tenant Accounting: Manage accounts receivable by tracking rent income from tenants and accounts payable by ensuring timely bill payments for property-related expenses.
- Lease Management: Oversee financial aspects of lease agreements and track income and expenses associated with property leases.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure adherence to tax laws and regulations specific to the real estate industry and assist with tax planning and preparation. Work closely with CPA firm closing financials annually and preparing tax returns for multiple entities.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, provide insights for improvement, and support investment and financing decisions for new properties.
- Property Transactions: Assist with financial aspects of property acquisitions and sales, including managing the financial documentation and transactions involved.
- Cash Management: Manage cash flow and provide projects for budget management.
- Payroll: Management bi-monthly payroll and payroll taxes.
- Minimum Required Qualifications
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA/MPA a plus but not required.
Experience:
- 5+ years prior accounting experience, preferably within the real estate and/or property management sector.
- Software Skills: QuickBooks Desktop 2024 - Required
- General property management software and strong Excel skills.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other financial reporting standards. Familiar with real estate practices.
Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with logic and critical thinking
- Detailed and accurate reporting
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, QuickBooks Desktop, and Adobe
- Centersoft property management software experience a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- 3 plus years of full cycle accounting within the real estate industry preferred
- Works independently and with a team.
- Friendly, personable and with a desire to contribute as a team member
- Ability to provide support to the on-site property management team

Schedule: Monday through Friday
Salary: $85,000 to $95,000 (Exempt)
Work Location: In person - Downtown Colorado Springs (Onsite)
